Powerhouse Pub on Sutter Street is filling Halloween weekend with five musical acts and a $1,000 costume contest across three days of music in Historic Folsom.

The lineup runs Friday, Oct. 30, through Sunday, Nov. 1, covering classic rock, 2000s pop and hip-hop, 1980s favorites and blues, according to Folsom Times.

Friday, Oct. 30

That '70s Band opens the weekend at 6:30 p.m. with the venue's TGIF Early Show. The group's setlist draws on artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Eagles, spanning the late 1960s through the mid-1990s.

At 10 p.m., Sacramento-area performers Adam Aldama & The Aces take over for Halloween Fright Night, a dance party built around 2000s pop and hip-hop. The venue is advertising drink specials and VIP options for the late show. Costumes are encouraged.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Halloween afternoon starts at 3 p.m. with Mere Mortals, a Sacramento-area band covering classic rock and blues from the 1960s through the 1990s. The Saturday Afternoon Dance Party doubles as a costume party and potluck.

The main event hits at 10 p.m. The Spazmatics, known for 1980s-themed performances mixing new wave, synth-pop and arena rock, will headline alongside the $1,000 costume contest. The venue is encouraging 1980s-inspired costumes: neon clothing, leg warmers, mullets and recognizable movie characters.

Attendees should note that the venue's event page lists face masks among prohibited items.

Sunday, Nov. 1

Val Starr, a Sacramento-area vocalist and guitarist, closes the weekend at 3 p.m. with a Halloween After Party edition of the weekly Powerhouse of Blues series. Starr and her band, Val Starr & The Blues Rocket, have released seven original albums. Their 2024 recording "To the Blues and Back Again" reached No. 4 on the Roots Music Report's main blues chart.

All events are for ages 21 and over. Tickets are available online at PowerhousePub.com, with door tickets sold first-come, first-served. Free parking is typically available at the garage at 905 Leidesdorff St., though the venue notes exceptions during large-scale special events.
