Folsom e-bike riders could face new speed limits on the city's trail network and in parks under a revised ordinance heading to the City Council on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The updated rules would cap e-bike speeds at 15 mph on Class I bike trails and 10 mph on paved paths and walkways inside city parks, unless signs indicate a different limit, according to a city announcement posted Monday, Oct. 26. Riders would be banned from playgrounds, sports fields and sports courts.

The ordinance also targets what the city described as unsafe riding behaviors. The city's announcement did not detail what changed between the September draft and the revised version.

The council first took up the e-bike issue at its Sept. 8 meeting, when members directed staff to conduct additional analysis and refine the proposed regulations.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Folsom City Hall, 50 Natoma St., and will be streamed live online.
