A stretch of the El Dorado Trail will shut down Wednesday, Oct. 28, for wood removal work.
El Dorado County announced the closure on its official trail updates page, posting the notice Oct. 26. The affected segment runs from the Bike Park at Old Depot Road to the Weber Creek Bridge.
The county did not specify hours for the closure or say whether the trail would reopen the same day.
No detour route was listed in the announcement. Cyclists and pedestrians who use that segment should plan alternate routes for Wednesday.
The closed section sits along the trail's Class 1 multi-use path, which connects Old Depot Bike Park to the City of Placerville. The bike park offers restrooms, a water fountain, a bike repair station and parking, according to the county's trail page.
The closure is one of several maintenance operations affecting the trail this month. CalFire and El Dorado County have been clearing brush along a separate section starting at the Rail Park on Oriental Street. That work has closed the trail on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the end of October.
Construction on the Diamond Springs Parkway 1B Project between Missouri Flat Road and Highway 49 has also shifted trail parking since Sept. 18. The county said temporary parking is available at the southern end of the lot at 4369 Golden Center Drive and the southwest portion of the Walmart lot at 4300 Missouri Flat Road.
The El Dorado Trail is a multi-use path that the county is developing within the Sacramento-Placerville Transportation Corridor. Several sections have been built through multiple projects by the county and the City of Placerville. The trail is envisioned to eventually stretch the length of El Dorado County from its western border to the Tahoe Basin.
