The Folsom City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 8, approved a $220,000 contract to repaint seven city buildings. Some of the facilities still have their original exterior paint after more than 30 years.

The project covers City Hall, the Folsom Police Department, Folsom Community Center, Folsom Public Library, Parks Maintenance Shop and Fire Stations 35 and 37. Funding comes from the city's remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars.

City officials described the work as preventive maintenance rather than a cosmetic refresh, according to the Folsom Times, which first reported the approval. Deteriorating paint leaves building materials exposed to weather and water intrusion, which can lead to more expensive structural repairs.

The $220,000 figure includes a 10% contingency. The city has not identified the contractor or announced a start date.

Folsom has used ARPA funds for other facility upgrades. A November 2025 Arts and Culture Commission report noted the city replaced the HVAC system at the Senior & Art Center at 48 Natoma St. with the federal dollars.
