Green Valley Elementary School has earned a spot on the 2026 California Honor Roll for the third year in a row, according to Village Life.

The Rescue Union School District school is one of 2,080 campuses statewide to make the list. That's roughly 24% of all eligible schools in California.

The Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a nonprofit that uses data science to track student outcomes, announced the 2026 Honor Roll on Oct. 15. Now in its 12th year, the Honor Roll is the state's only recognition program based entirely on test data. ERP compiled the list using California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Smarter Balanced results from 2024 through 2026.

Schools that made the cut showed consistently strong performance across all student groups, academic improvement over time and measurable progress in reducing gaps among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged students, according to ERP.

Superintendent Jim Shoemake called the three-year run "a remarkable achievement," according to Village Life's Nov. 2 report. He credited Principal Michelle Winberg and the Green Valley staff for building what he described as a culture of high expectations and supportive learning.

Winberg said the recognition reflects daily classroom work, not a formal application. She said she is proud of her staff for creating an environment where every student can reach their potential, according to Village Life.

ERP President and CEO Alex Barrios said the Honor Roll schools are doing "an exceptional job of preparing students for whatever the future holds." The program is part of a national effort, supported by 28 chambers of commerce across California, to engage business leaders in recognizing high-performing schools.
