Friends of Folsom will collect frozen turkeys and $20 donations at its 17th Annual Turkey Drive on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. in Folsom's Historic District.

The nonprofit's website lists the Folsom Amphitheater as the venue. A listing in Style Magazine places the event at 200 Wool St. in the Historic District.

Admission is a $20 cover charge or a frozen turkey. The collected turkeys and funds go toward providing Thanksgiving meals for families in the community, according to the organization.

The evening features a performance by The Spazmatics, along with food and activities. The organization encourages attendees to wear '80s attire.

Friends of Folsom has a long track record with the annual drive. The group's website states it helped donate 2,541 turkeys to the Sacramento Food Bank in November 2017. By November 2018, the total reached 5,000 turkeys to the Sacramento Food Bank plus 601 turkeys to Twin Lakes Food Bank in Folsom, which the organization said covered 100% of that food bank's need. The group reported donating 10,000 turkeys to the Sacramento Food Bank in each year from 2020 through 2023.

The nonprofit is also offering a rideshare incentive for the Nov. 7 event. Attendees who arrive by Sacramento Regional Transit, Uber, Lyft or another ride-share service can show proof at the door and receive drink tickets or raffle tickets, according to the group's website.

Organizers list several prohibited items: EZ-Up tents, glass containers, outside food and drinks, coolers, drones, animals, weapons, silly string and cigarettes. Sealed water bottles, small bags and cameras are allowed.

Friends of Folsom, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, also lists a "Buy One More" event on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Walmart and Grocery Outlet locations in Folsom. Details on that event are limited.
