Folsom History hosts its first fundraising gala Friday, Oct. 2, at the Folsom Community Center, with all proceeds benefiting the 65-year-old preservation nonprofit.

The "travel through the decades" evening runs from 6 to 11:30 p.m. at 52 Natoma St. Guests can dress black-tie optional or come in attire from their favorite decade. The event includes dinner, dancing and mingling, according to the organization's event page.

The gala will also honor individuals who have helped shape Folsom's future, though the organization has not yet named the honorees.

General admission tickets cost $100. Higher tiers include Supporter at $250 and Contributor at $500. Copper Sponsorship costs $1,500 and includes a reserved table of 10, wine, gift bags for each guest and a listing in the program guide. Silver Sponsorship runs $2,500 and adds event signage and a quarter-page program ad. Gold Sponsorship tops out at $5,000, adding premium seating, a spot in the sponsor highlight video and a half-page ad in the program.

Folsom History, formerly the Folsom Historical Society, was founded in 1961 to preserve and promote local history. The organization rebranded in June 2022 and now counts more than 500 members, according to its website. It operates the Folsom History Museum at 823 Sutter St. and The Square, both in the Historic District.

The museum traces its roots to a group of Folsom residents who worked to save pieces of the historic Wells Fargo Assay Office on Sutter Street. That effort led to the museum's opening in 1976.
