El Dorado Musical Theatre's touring group High Voltage will perform "Back to Broadway" on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 in El Dorado Hills. The show runs at the EDMT Performing Arts Center, 4949 Windplay Dr.
The Sunday show begins at 2 p.m. A Saturday show time had not been posted on EDMT's website as of Sept. 27.
High Voltage is an audition-only ensemble of 18 to 24 performers ages 13 to 22 who rehearse and tour together for a full year. The group serves as EDMT's "performance ambassadors," according to the organization's website, appearing at venues ranging from the California State Capitol to Disneyland to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Director and choreographer Debbie Wilson and vocal director Jennifer Wittmayer lead the creative team. Wilson co-founded EDMT with John P. Healy Jr. in 2001 and has served as artistic director since 2002, according to the organization's history page.
The current Season 17 roster includes 20 performers. High Voltage launched in 2009, when the concept was announced at the cast party for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
The first cast had 33 members.
EDMT, founded in 2001, is a youth theater organization based at the EDMT Performing Arts Center in El Dorado Hills. The organization swept all 16 Young People's Musicals categories at the Sacramento Area Regional Theater Alliance Elly Awards during the 2006-07 season.
