An early morning fatal hit-and-run has led to the arrest of a Folsom resident for vehicular manslaughter. At 2:31 a.m. this morning, a motorist called 911 to report a bicyclist lying in the roadway along East Bidwell Street near Oak Avenue Parkway, the apparent victim of a hit and run. Officers and medics rushed to the scene but the 41 year old male victim was pronounced dead.
Although there were no witnesses at the scene, Officers used physical evidence at the scene to identify the vehicle, a blue-gray 2014 Chevy Cruze, which was later found at a Folsom address. At the scene, Officers and Detectives contacted Justin Nicholas Greene, 27, of Folsom and determined he was the driver and was under the influence of alcohol. Detectives believe that alcohol was a factor in the collision and arrested Greene.
Greene was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. A booking photo of Greene is attached. Information on the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office when it is available. This case is a reminder of the tragic consequences of impaired driving.
